Responsibility & Sustainability.

WHITEROOM’s heart and soul lie with bringing brands and people together, with this central to all we do, we understand the importance of corporate social responsibility and sustainability, how it plays a significant role in all the projects we work on. We continuously strive to better ourselves as a company and work with like-minded brands.

Our plan to become carbon neutral by 2030 is regularly evaluated and adapted. With the continual, exciting development of future innovations within CSR available to us, we can invariably grow and tailor our strategy to achieve this goal. Caring for the environment is fundamental to Whiteroom and plays an important part in the manner in which we do business.

We are passionate about the projects we are involved in already and the new schemes that we have lined up for the coming years.

Let us share a few with you

Going Paperless___

Being a design agency, sketching on paper has been fundamental to our process. However, we are actively cutting down on paper usage and looking into technologies that can be utilised instead. The paper we do use is FSC and Eco label accredited.

Project Energy Usage___

The introduction of Project Energy Usage reports help to identify the total amount of energy and materials used on any project. This will provide us with a clear indication of the Carbon footprint of each project and how the materials have been sourced and utilised after use.

Recycling___

All waste generated at the studio is separated into general and recycled bins. We use a waste management company that is driven to recycle as much waste as possible.

Sourcing Locally___

Be it the suppliers we utilise, or the materials they purchase on our behalf, we always look to source and specify as local as possible to reduce the carbon footprint of a project.

Reclaimed, Recycled & Sustainable Materials___

For projects where we specify timber, we make sure we source it from local suppliers wherever possible and is FSC accredited. And actively looking to source and use recycled and reclaimed materials for projects.

Tree Planting___

We recently joined a re-wilding initiative that plants trees and hedgerows. The scheme will offset the carbon footprint for our business's annual energy usage. This also contributes to the government's national tree-planting objective. It is an area we are actively expanding on with some exciting plans for the future.

This is something we are offering to our clients for each project undertaken.

Working Environment___

Our converted barn, situated in the Warwickshire countryside, provides an inspirational and creative environment for our staff.

Working in a semi-rural location has helped us greatly as a business. We love being part of a small community outside of a big city. We, therefore, like to give back when we can. From utilising the local stores and amenities to checking in and catching up with our neighbouring businesses, it all helps to stay in touch with our community.

Staff Good Cause Scheme___

Employees are given 2 days a year paid leave to help local charities and ventures of their choosing.

Staff sharing journeys to and from work, or using alternative transport like walking or cycling, is an ongoing initiative we encourage.

Future Plans

Lower Energy Usage___

We don't use any fossil fuels to provide energy to our premises and our electricity supply is fitted with a Smart Meter. We turn all lights and equipment off at night. Once our current contract expires, we are looking to move to a green electricity provider that utilises only renewable energy. In the longer term, we have plans to install solar power at our premises.

We are always working towards being better.
